Because skill points are based on the amount of experience (well, 'levels') you have, you will be retroactively awarded any additional skill points. They are awarded after you kill something and update your experience total. So if you have a lot of experience beyond level 20 on your character(s) you should be receiving some more skill points.
Wow ... that's pretty cool (not being sarcastic). I got some friends who are gonna be getting a lot of skill points once they log back in and kill something. Unfortunately, I never enjoyed farming flesh golems enough to have a huge pool of experience. Looks like I'll still have to make that 3rd character and run through the Great Northern Wall for the 400th billion kazillionth time.

i'm gonna pass on that.
i'm doing my second char, and almost done all missions with it.
i'm going to try to unlock all skills for my two characters, having 4 of 6 professions unlocked and have some fun pvp-ing. if i after a month maybe get the urge, i'll go back for the last two professions.

but having those new skillquests is really great. they are the fastest way to having some new skills. keep 'm coming!

Along those lines, Alex, can you address the issue we're talking about here in regards to the 50k XP for level 20's who had already Ascended before the patch:

It's amazing to me how some people get exactly what they want and still can complain, hehe.

"I won the lottery, and Now I have to pay the taxes," sighs the disconted PvPr.

OMFG. I just read the update notes.

ArenaNet, you guys rock. Seriously, what great support!!

Almost everything i can think of that was complained about or had change requests mentioned, has been done. My own grievance with the loot stopping after playing my favourite zones all day (lol) has been fixed.

Now i can hunt my favourite prey and be confident that i will get exciting things to admire for a few hours before selling them back to the merchants

"Streaming updates"? NO! "Flooding support" is a better term, (Best fix that, lol.)

***** Five stars

Yay for another useless patch. Now how about addressing the improvement of skill and upgrade acquisition? Maybe have a separate server where everything is unlocked? When I was originally buying this game I was looking forward to playing without having to grind through stuff like justiculars, ettins, drakes, griffons and others in order to level and gain skills/items/gold. I wanted to just go in there and duel, while at the same time being able to pick the professions and set ups that I wanted, and not what ANet had pre-configured (which by the way is very weak). I mean - First person shooters are like this (you start out with a completely tweaked out profession and you go fight), and this game should be no different. I didn't sign up for another WoW or DAoC or EQ when I was buying this thing and from all the reviews and previews that I was reading.

It's more like "I won the lottery, but I have to spend 40 years doing a generic dull office job or they won't let me have the money". NEW UPDATE! That has been reduced to 39 years of slightly different generic dull office work. There's something great in the game, but it's still buried under a lot of filler. The patches have all been improvements but very slow improvement is quite frustrating when it looks like it could be done much faster.

Updated secondary profession quests so that when a player accepts a new secondary profession, he now gets the starter skills for that profession.
it should be noted that they mean PreSearing skills

theres no way to quest for class skills beyond Yak
(if you change your second profession)

Slow? Think about it first: No UAS. That won't happen. Bear with it.

Skillpoint grind is _greatly_ reduced. That was what many people complained about.
Runes now always salvage and more drops in general.

Mhm... Compared to an UAS it is nothing, but hopefully sometime people may understand that there will never be an UAS-System, then they may understand that the changes are quite good.

But it is really awesome to see people respond on the changes.
Before the patch: too much grind
After the patch: *argh* too much grind.

Before: runes are so hard to get
After: now i can buy any runes I like? stupid!

Before: SoC System simple takes too much time -> grind!!!
After: SoC is too easy!!

Before: skill points are so hard to get
After: yes, we now need way much fewer xp for a skill point and yes there are scrolls to help boost our xp but it's still way too hard. They hardly did anything to fix it.

mhm... What about beeing glad that the 'grind' is reduced?

So go buy an FPS. This is not an FPS.

No, I don't feel I've been made an idiot, I still stand by my statements, which were based on my own personal experience.

Fixed issues with last week's update that could cause loot drops to completely stop for some players after repeated map entries...
The key words here being some players. My experience was not your experience. You were some player, I wasn't. I never doubted it wasn't happening to anyone...it just wasn't happening to me. But then, I'm not a farmer.

Back on-topic: Good job, ANet! 3 substantial, good patches in roughly 2 weeks.

I am going to say something positive, although i dont like the status quo:

Thanks, arenanet, for making a pointless game semipointless. Your so great.

I have one complaint:

My level 20 character beat his Mirror Self yesterday before the new 50,000 XP reward was in place, so he got nothin'!

O.K., so I'm being picky. All around, an excellent batch of changes. ArenaNet has definitely earned themselves the reputation of being a top-notch developer.

Saerden, just out of curiousity, can you provide an example of a game that isn't pointless? Seriously—it's a game. It's a diversion from real life. If it weren't pointless, it'd be a job, and not a game.

As it happens, I believe that it's a fun game. But complaining that it's pointless is like complaining that the night sky is dark. I mean, that's true, and all, but—it's supposed to be.

The only MMO I know of that isn't pointless is Second Life, but somehow I get the impression that that's not the sort of gaming experience you have in mind.

Since I can't get a coherent search on this question:
Can anyone answer definitively whether armor appearance is retroactively updated? i.e. if you bought it prior to the art update, is your copy updated?

I would assume yes.

These changes only work on new items, not retroactively on old ones.

Hey, your set might become a collector's item from 'The Good Old Days'

I was talking to the people who were adamantly stating that since it WASN'T happening to them, it was therefore NOT HAPPENING TO ANYONE. And get off your "I'm not a farmer" high horse, neither am I. And yet I still got ganked with my drops.

Ergo, my statement was not addressed to you.
